The foundation holds the pulse, the voice carries the thought, and change opens another perspective.

A part is a role

A good part does not have to be interesting on its own. Its job may be simple: hold the pulse, answer the vocal, or change the weight of the chorus.

Build contrast

When every section is equally dense, the form becomes flat. Silence before the chorus can do more than another guitar inside it.

Test without solo

Remove each layer in turn. If nothing changes without it, it may only be occupying space.
