Hear the center
Every song has a carrier: the voice, the rhythm, a texture, or a harmonic movement. The rest of the production should support it rather than compete for the same attention.
Louder does not mean closer
Closeness comes from tone, dynamics, and the amount of air around a sound. The fader is only one possible answer.
Stop in time
A new layer is easy to add and hard to justify. If the song already carries its intent, complexity must earn its place.
